Hey everybody! I'm SO sorry I didn't update my blog for a while but I just had too much stuff going on. But I finally decided to do a special giveaway – contest! And it is really easy to participate in!
As you may know I started offering hand painted necklaces in my shop a while ago and I thought about custom orders! Wouldn't it be great, if everyone had his own special necklace that no one else has?
And for this reason I decided to do a special contest for you to introduce you to my new custom service in my shop!
So I want to know, if you got to have your own custom designed locket, what would you like?
What:
The winner will get his own special locket for free!
I will use watercolours to create the painting and seal it with a clear coat of glossy resin.
These lockets are about 2,2 – 3,2 cm/ 0,9″ – 1,1“. So actually really small but elegant and cute!
How:
It is really easy!
You can leave a comment on this entry or send me an e-mail (makoccinos[at]gmail.com) and tell me which setting you prefer (#1 or #2) and what motif you would like to have on your own locket and why! Maybe there is a nice story behind it?
And feel free to add a link to a reference picture if you have a specific idea in mind.
This contest is open worldwide! Just don't forget to include your e-mail address!
This contest ends Wednesday, November 16, 2011 9pm CET.
Thursday, November 18th, my boyfriend and I will choose the winner with the best idea and announce it here on Saturday, November 19th!
Good luck and thank you for your interest!
~mako
I think setting #1 is gorgeous! As for the motif, I am a huge fan of Rembrandt van Rijn who provides much inspiration for my paintings and would love a little tiny detail from one of his paintings.

These are so cute! I can't decide beteen the heart and the cameo. If I were win the heart I think I would like to have my initials with my husbands with some flowery scrollwork. If I decided on the cameo I'd like a shining sun of some sort, to represent my sun sign, the leo. So hard to decide!
Thanks,

My favorite is definitely #1, the oval. It's classic, truly a vintage look. What I would like on it is a sketch, in tones of browns, tans, bronzes (to literally melt into the vintage look) of the face of my soft coated wheaten terrier, Charlie (photo of his adorable face can certainly be provided).
In 2003 I entered a severe depression related to overwhelming changes in my workplace. It was so severe that I was removed from work for treatment for several months. My husband and i decided, during that time, to adopt a dog. We researched the puppy mills, the farms, the best states for breeding, the best breeds for our situation. We visited a wonderful breeder and sat in the grass with all the puppies to see which seemed to like us best.
One puppy, wearing a little white ribbon, came to play with us, then went back to his brothers and sisters, then came back to play with us, and so on. We knew based on his continued return to us that HE had chosen US to be his new family.
In no time my spirits lifted, my depression lifted, I was able to return to work and our boy, Charlie, had saved me. He is the most beautiful boy we have ever seen. We finally learned who was in charge when we were expelled from two training classes. We spend every day learning what each bark, expression and body movement means.
For over eight years he has awakened me with smiles, excitement and kisses. He jumps up to kiss everyone he sees. He saved my life.
I hope you pick me. But I'm sure you're gettingbloads of stories like mine. Thanks for the chance!

I love number 1 too! I'm not sure about a motif: perhaps a honey bee or tree of Life?
hrfarley at gmail dot com
I love both locket both lockets but especially #1.I'm a really over of vintage looking stuff. as for what motifs, I'm really nature person and thus my field of work choice so i would like any thing like butterflies or floral bouquet.

I like #1 best and I would love vines and flowers put on it! ๐
thecountryblossom at hotmail dot com
I love the oval locket the best ๐ If I win I think I would like it to have either a lilac flower, a quilt block or a sunflower ๐
homespunhandmaiden(at)yahoo(dot)com
I like setting #1 the best. I would choose a simple silhouette of a dress in black with a white background or a vintage linen colored background. My mom raised two girls and I think that would be a beautiful gift for her!
I would love to have setting #2 because heart means love. And I would like to have the red sun and cherry blossoms on it (I am a Filipina married to a Japanese and is living in Japan and our daughter was born on April, the cherry blossom season). And at the center is our little princess' name "HIKARI" and the letter's color would be sky blue for her blue eyes. I chose heart because I love my daughter so much. She is my life, my love and my all. My daughter is the bravest person I had ever known. Fighting for her life since she was born. She is 2 years old now, thanks be to God. God sent our daughter to us as our light that's why we named her "HIKARI", it means "light" in Japanese though her name in Japanese characters means the light of the sun on the flowers over the fields / field of flowers under the light of the sun. She fought with us and will still keep on fighting. And on November 16, it's my birthday and a locket that no one else's own with the name of the most important person, the one I love most written on it would be one of the best gifts I would ever receive on my birthday and I would love to put our daughter's picture on it.
Thanks for the chance!

My favourite one is setting #1 ๐ I love the shape, and I'm a big enthusiast of vintage/victorian/old school things ๐ I think my best friend would like it, too and It would be an awesome present for her! If I win I'd choose a key motif, because it would symbolize the secrets of the locket. ๐
Greetings from Hungary!
dome.chaos(at)gmail(dot)com
I really like the second setting with the heart. As for the design, well, I think the mockingjay symbol from the hunger games would be great. It actually relates to the book, a locket. but if not, I'd have to think about it more.
lauren51990 at aol dot com
I like setting number 1! I think I would like a bird or a hot air balloon on it…
Thanks!

I have to pick the heart pendant because I would choose to put a colorful cupcake on the locket to symbolise my love for baking.
Since I've discovered my passion for Pastry Arts it has given me so much in return. I've developed a new found confidence in myself and creativity. It has pushed me so far to even create my own blog centre around it.
I couldnt give it up even if I wanted too. I'm stuck with it and its stuck with me.But I dont mind, Its awesome to have something you love.
If I were chosen I love a chocolate cupcake with bright colored frosting like pink with sprinkles or a cherry on top.Or anything fancy! I'm so open to anything artistic that someone can do with a cupcake.
Great giveaway! Thank you for letting me participate.
bd_657(at)hotmail(dot)com
I like the 1st oval locket the best! If I were chosen, I'd have a violin painted on the locket so I can wear it for good luck when I try out for All State Orchestra!
I would get the second locket – the heart and I'd love to have a cupcake of sorts painted on it!
Thank you for the giveaway ๐

I'd love setting #2, with a photo I had sent my boyfriend some time ago, when we were miles apart and which he then processed. He's actually a photographer and this was a sweet way to do sth "together", without actually being at the same place… I had sent him a photo of my heart pendant in my hand, I think it'd be lovely to have that photo of my red heart locket on another heart locket!!
The photo is this one:

Setting 1
I would love a guitar on it
monacart32 at hotmail dot com
I love the first setting and would enjoy something with a botanical theme, for my mother who loves to garden!
I like setting #1 and I'm pretty much torn between either a BOOK or a PEN as motif … you see, I love to read and write and this would be the perfect combination for me! You know what? How about a motif where you can see an open book and a pen that's writing in it (no hand though, that would overload the picture, I think).
danaan at gmx dot at
Heya, I think setting #2 is adorable! For a motif I think I`d have to pick cherry blossoms. My daughter (who is currently 3 days overdue!) is going to be called Tsuki and her room is decorated in loads of cherry blossoms, they seem to represent her to me so I <3 them!
tallisdesigns(at)hotmail(dot)co(dot)uk
The settings are both lovely, but my favourite is #1 . Since I want it to have a vintage flair, for the motif I was thinking of a victorian or retro floral illustration (though I haven't decided the exact image I want ^_^)
sonia.solci@libero.it
i want setting #2 ๐
i have always loved lockets ever since i was young. it gives me that vintage feel which is elegant and has a timeless beauty. i chose a heart shaped locket because it symbolizes love for me. although romantic, i still want it to have a personal touch of what i like. so for the design i want it to be cool and punk, maybe with bows and skulls with colors pink black and purple ๐
punkme15 at gmail dot com
I would pick setting #1 but I would let my girls pick the picture, then they could give it to me with pictures of them inside it for Christmas, the best presant for this mom ever!!

I love #1! As I love my country so much, I want something that will represent it.
A_C_E_ at hotmail dot com
I love #1. I would love to have a photo of universe as a motif. You know, with stars and galaxies….
uula027@gmail.com
I prefer #1 for sure. I love the classic look!
megnate at telus dot net
Wow, #1 or #2? Very tough to choose. I think I'm going to go with #1. I think a beautiful garden full of happy flowers would be great to wear during the winter weather. ambrerose at(aol) dot(com)
#1 is fancy looking and so are moustaches.
Niuniuzheng at gmail dot com
i love lockets.
I would choose the heart shaped locket and this is why:
When I was much younger, I was diagnosed with having a bicornuate uterus which essentially means my uterus is shaped like a love heart! As romantic as this seems, it actually presents many issues with pregnancy-increased risk of miscarriage etc and pre term labour.
BUT despite the odds, I am currently 37 weeks pregnant with a little girl who will make her entrance in just a few week via c-section (another complication is breech babies.)
I am so blessed, for so many reasons to be able to have this little person in my life.
I would love to have her initials on this locket, with photos of my husband and I inside, just to remind her of where she came from and how loved she is.
Enter me please! If I win, I'd choose the setting #2.
The picture would be the Little Red Riding Hood.
Thanks!

I like setting #1. I'd pick something for my mother that could reflect her grandchildren. I'd give it to her for mothers day.

I like setting #1 I will put my photo and my dau on her birthday gifts

Gorgeous work!! Tough call, but I would go for setting #1 with either:
1) a great blue heron (one of my favorite birds/animals/things in life – they represent grace, patience and strength – and fly above the rain clouds to avoid being rained on!!)
2) a stag – my husband's favorite animal, to be a little symbol of him to carry with me.
Fingers crossed!!! ~April

I like setting 1 best.
I would like it to contain a horse picture with a victorian 'feel'…..maybe something like this:
http://www.artpictures.co.uk/gijl3346.htm or this

Number 1 looks to me really nice))
I am really inspired by the motiv with violine, i think sparrows or a bushy tree with flowers will also look good))))

My favourite set is absolutely the #1, and let my think…I love cats, so a black cat silhouette will be perfect *____*
araxekercadio[at]gmail[dot]com
I like the heart setting (#2) and would love to see it with angel wings on it (maybe with a date) as a rememberance piece for out firstborn who passed away 6 days after birth.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I prefer the oval setting, it's more traditional and even more romantic than the heart. I've just traveled to Lisbon, Portugal and their iconic image is a colorful rooster, would love to have that image on the locket!
natashafatah at gmail dot com
Hi!! So great your work! Love it! And I love so much the setting no.1 it's great, I'd like if I win, for the image, or an owl or a butterflie, love this 2 animals, and I think it will look so cute in the custom! Thanks a lot for this great oportunity to win! Big hug.. Maggy ๐
Sorry I forgot less my e-mail: megan.balcells@gmail.com
Thanks again, hugs.. Maggy ๐
I would love to win this locket! I prefer the oval locket. I would love to have a picture of my red barn on it with some ducks or chickens in the foreground on grass. The reason I would like this picture is because we live in the country and my grandkids LOVE all our animals, and the barn symbolizes this. Whenever they see a red barn they think of our animals. They also love playing with my necklaces and are always checking them out. I would have a couple pictures I could send you to work off.
Sorry, here is my email for above comment.

What a wonderful giveaway, this is a truly beautiful piece of jewelry. If I could be lucky enough to win this, I would love to have the heart locket, painted with a German Lebkuchen heart painted in the center, reading "Ich liebe Dich", which means "I love you" in German. I come from a German family, my grandmother being raised in the difficult days of World War Two. Her house in Eshwege, Germany was constantly bombed, and once, a giant window was broken in her house from a bomb and a giant shard of glass just missed her eye. She had to be raised on dried peas and carrots in water, because there was no food left for them due to the war. Now, my beloved aunt and uncle and my 2 cousins live in Munich, Germany. I write to my cousin, Lily, every day. It is very difficult for me to not see her every day. This lebkuchen heart would remind me every day of my dear family over the seas, and of my heritage, which I hold near and dear to my heart. Please help me keep my family close to me every day. Thank you very much for your time in reading my comment.

This is what the hearts look like:

I love the oval shape! If I won I would choose to have a cow on the locket. I'm not sure how it started, but my boyfriend and I say "moo" too each other a lot. It means "I love you"! It's just a quirk we have that I've grown quite fond of, and this locket would remind me of him whenever I wore it ๐
marija.majerle at gmail dot com
I like the oval shape. I would probably choose something with my two now adult sons, 18 and 21. They have grown up to be amazing young men, and this would be a pefect reminder of them
robinlscott4 at hotmail dot com
I think the oval shape has a more vintage and traditional look to it, and I really adore that.
As for a motif… Either the silhouette of a raven, and/or faint pink cherry blossoms in the background? I've always adored cherry blossoms, they line the streets of my hometown and walking down the streets in the morning was always a joy. As for the raven, I find them to be such beautiful creatures, especially when used in jewelry.
Thank you for the chance!

I like setting number 2. And I would want the claddagh symbol! I have always loved the meaning behind it…the Claddagh's distinctive design features two hands clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands), and loyalty (the crown). It is a great concept and this necklace could become a family possession passed down through generations.

I would like setting number 1. I would want the phrase "Mischief Managed" on it for Harry Potter!
