As the title says we will learn how to paint mountains with watercolors today.

Are you ready to take your watercolor landscape paintings to the next level?

Because I will show you a very simple way how you can paint distant hills and mountains with watercolors. We’ll do this step by step so you can follow along, learn how to create depth and distance in your paintings and take these skills and put them into your own paintings!

I recently painted a similar painting with mountains that you can check out here if you haven’t seen it yet. However, it is not necessary to watch it before you follow this tutorial!

So let's dive right in!

Here’s what you need:
  • Watercolor paper
  • Watercolor brush
  • 2 jars of water (one to rinse your brush, one for clean water)
  • Watercolors (I used different yellows, blues and greens)
  • Paper towel
