Looking for easy watercolor painting ideas? I'm glad you found your way to today's blogpost, because that is exactly what you'll get here! Today we'll be painting:

Donuts!

But before we start I have to warn you: If you follow along you will create mouth-watering donuts, please keep in mind that you can't eat your watercolor paper! 😉

What you need:
  • Watercolors
  • Paper
  • Brush
  • Two jars of water
  • tissue paper
  • pencil
  • A small bowl (for the round shape)
  • (posca pens for decoration)

The first step is tracing your small bowl onto your watercolor paper with a pencil. Make sure to place some of your circles over the edge of the paper so that they are cut off, to create a more seamless pattern.

Next, draw a donut hole/smaller circle into each big circle. You don't need a smaller bowl because they don't have to be perfect circles.

Now, pick some colors! You can use any color, prepare some paint in your mixing palette. You want the paint to be concentrated and not too watery!

I'll show you how to create a beautiful light reflection and how to make your donuts look more three dimensional in my video below. PLUS, you'll learn how to decorate your donut to make it look even more delicious.
